Abstract
Guinea pigs and mice were given pine pollen intranasally under ether anesthesia. Pollen was observed in the alveolar spaces and around the bronchi. Chronic inflammation, noted in and around the pollen grains, was characteristic of a granulomatous reaction. Fluorescent antibody techniques identified the antigenic portions of the pollen, while auramine staining revealed small acid-fast particles of the pollen three months after introduction of the innoculum. Keywords
