Abstract
A new approach to the total synthesis of (±)-neorautenane 14 is described, using the chemo-selective coupling of benzodipyran 12 and o-chloromercuriophenol 13 as the key step. Compound 12 is synthesized in four steps from chromanone 7.Keywords
