Glycosides from Muscaricomosum. 6. Use of homo- and heteronuclear two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for the structure determination of the novel glycoside muscaroside C

Abstract
A combined use of homo- and heteronuclear NMR spectroscopy in the structure elucidation of a minor glycoside extracted from the bulbs of M. comosum is described. This glycoside 1, termed muscaroside C, possesses a .beta.-D-apio-D-furanosyl-(1 .fwdarw. 2)-.beta.-D-glucopyranosyl(1 .fwdarw. 2)-.alpha.-L-arabinopyranosyl(1 .fwdarw. 6)-.beta.-D-glucopyranosyl chain linked at the 3-position of (23S)-17,23-epoxy-3.beta.,30,31,-trihydroxy-27-nor-5.alpha.-lanost-8-ene 2.
