Abstract
Boyer and Klatskin, in their paper, "Patterns of Necrosis in Acute Viral Hepatitis," in this issue of the Journal, provide interesting data on the long-term follow-up observation of patients with acute hepatitis. The authors separate from many patients examined, a group in which subacute hepatic necrosis (SHN), commonly referred to by Klatskin1 as bridging, was found. The combined frequency of death and chronic liver disease in this group was over 50 per cent. A similar group called chronic necrotizing hepatitis was recently described in Germany, and the prognosis was said to be worse than that of the usual variety . . .Keywords
