Abstract
Measurements of surface elevations and three orthogonal subsurface velocity components have been performed from a platform in the southern North Sea, off the Dutch coast, in order to check linear spectral transfer functions relating subsurface velocities to surface elevations, to obtain information about the directional properties of the waves, and to investigate the velocity statistics. The data obtained as far do not cover a sufficiently wide range of conditions to permit general conclusions. Some preliminary results are presented in the paper. Keywords
