Abstract
Chromatographic methods are applied to the analysis of DNA in Escherichia coli infected with bacteriophage T2. Viral DNA can be distinguished by its hydroxymethylcytosine content from bacterial DNA, which contains cystosine. Viral DNA increases and bacterial DNA is destroyed in infected bacteria. The amt. of viral DNA in the cells always exceeds the amt. contained in infective viral particles. Keywords
