Abstract
The mean free path dependence of the RKKY indirect exchange interaction is applied in a nearest-neighbour mean-field approach to give a simple universal relation between initial ordering temperature and resistivity. This is found to be consistent with most of the data on heavy rare-earth metals and alloys in the literature and gives an estimate of 4.7 AA for the mean free path of Gd at 300K.Keywords
