Abstract
Oral administration of NH4Cl is effective in preventing or relieving tetany in thyroparathyroidectomized dogs. After continued administration of NH4CI to such dogs over periods of 30-40 days the animals become adjusted to loss of the parathyroids, so that after this period the treatment may be discontinued and the animals even put on a meat diet. It is suggested that the effect of NH4CI is to increase acidity of the blood, thus increasing the serum Ca.This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
