Abstract
Serological examination of sera, employing saline and bovine serum albumin as diluents, showed that immunization with purified Vi antigen elicited both complete and incomplete Vi antibody in BALB/c mice, but only incomplete Vi antibody in Cinnamon mice. Incomplete Vi antibody alone accounted for the protection afforded by serum from Vi-immunized Cinnamon mice against challenge with fully virulent typhoid bacilli. Absorption tests verified the specificity of incomplete Vi antibody and the protection it afforded. Keywords
