The Axenic Cultivation of Rhabditis briggsae Dougherty and Nigon, 1949 (Nematoda: Rhabditidae). IV. Plasma Protein Fractions with Various Supplementation

Abstract
Factor Rb is present in human plasma and is apparently confined to the globulin fractions, wherein it most probably is associated with the beta-globulins. Certain globulin fractions support good cultures of R. briggsae when supplemented with ALE (supernatant from autoclaved liver extracts), but not VES (defined supplementation[long dash]vitamins, carbohydrate energy sources, mineral salts). Evidence is given that R. briggsae requires 1 or more spp. of large, heat-stable molecules, non-diffusible in dialysis, in addition to heat-labile factor Rb. The latter does not appear to be glutamine or any 1 or more of 5 relatively heat-labile co-enzymes.
