Abstract
The cross terms occurring in the expression for the theoretical nth. forbidden beta spectrum are given for an arbitrary mixture of interactions. Relations are derived between the six first forbidden vector nuclear matrix elements. Comparison with experiment is made for first forbidden transitions with allowed shape beta spectra. The results are discussed in relation to other recent work in the theory of beta decay. It is concluded that the interaction is most probably tensor with little or no admixture of other interactions. Keywords
