Fidelity trade-off in quantum operations

Abstract
We discuss, in terms of fidelities, the balance between the quality of estimating the state of a single copy of a d-level system, and the degree the state has to be altered in course of such a procedure. We derive a tight bound for the fidelities describing these two effects.
