Abstract
Ca falls about 90% in rat sub-maxillary gland after isoproterenol injection and this fall is at least twice the fall in gland Mg, sialic acid, or protein. Na and Cl rise about 20%. Over a wide range, the relationship of Ca to protein in rat saliva is linear. The data are consistent with the hypothesis that Ca is held at high concentrations in rat salivary glands by means of binding.
