Abstract
The nutritional value of a sample of algae meal, mainly Chlorella, was assessed in an experiment with laying hens. Diets formulated by linear programming contained up to 120 g algae meal/kg with supplementary DL-Met. There were no significant effects of dietary algae meal on egg output, food conversion or egg-shell quality. Thus algae meal at the concentrations tested can be a useful substitute for soybean meal in diets for laying hens. High concentrations of dietary algae meal caused a deep yellow yolk color of acceptable appearance. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
