Abstract
Two hundred and seventy-five strains of Salmonella pullorum and 10 strains of S. gallinarum from widely separated sources and dates of isolation reduced nitrates to nitrites in a solution composed of 2 gm. Difco peptone, 0.2 gm. KNO3 and 1 liter of distilled water. No appreciable difference was noted between species or strains. Witte''s peptone gave unsatisfactory results. Dimethyl-alpha-naphthylamine is recommended in place of alpha-naphthylamine in the testing of nitrites. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
