Hypoglycemia Associated with Non-Islet-Cell Tumor and Insulin-like Growth Factors

Abstract
To the Editor: In their article in the December 10 issue, Gorden and his colleagues1 once more provide data on patients with various types of tumors associated with hypoglycemia. The authors report that 19 of 52 patients with hypoglycemia associated with an extra-pancreatic tumor had elevated levels of insulin-like growth factor (IGF). Some of these data were originally reported by Megyesi et al.2 , 3 Gorden et al. used rat-liver membranes (Neville) as a matrix for assaying plasma fractions obtained after Sephadex G-75 gel filtration in 1 M acetic acid.
