Abstract
We have observed a chemical-environment effect on the total K x-ray yield of sulfur in , , and S. The yield from is 16% higher than the yield from S, whereas the yield from is, within error, the same as S. Variation in the fluorescence yield for the different molecules is considered to be the most probable cause of the effect.
