Abstract
The [alpha] and [beta] chains of SEC hemoglobin were examined and found to differ from C57BL/6 hemoglobin at 2 positions in the a chain. At one of these postions a single replacement occurred, while at the other location, residue 68, 2 amino acids were found which required that 2 types of [alpha] chains be present. The possible sources of 2 different [alpha] chains in a homozygous strain are discussed. Keywords
