Abstract
A method is described tor the rapid preparation of large quantities of metaphase HeLa cell chromosomes, free of contaminating nuclei, employing selective filtration through porus stainless steel filters. The RNA found in chromosome preparations is equivalent to ribosomal RNA in its sucrose density gradient pattern and its base composition. Its presence in these chromosome preparations is due to adventitious binding during the purification procedure. Keywords
