Abstract
Fifty-two male rats, from the S-13 strain maintained at the University of California, were given training on a response-alternation problem. The apparatus used was a single-unit elevated T-maze. The authors conclude that "Variability of behavior was inhibited by hungry or thirsty animals provided they had a large enough food deficit, whereas stereotypy of behavior was exhibited by hungry or thirsty animals provided they had a small enough food deficit.".Keywords
