Abstract
In 12 menopausal or castrated women a total dose of 125 mg. testosterone propionate, admd. in doses of 25 mg. in the course of 5-10 days, produced proliferation of the vaginal mucosa and glycogen depletion in the vaginal epithelial cells. These changes were evaluated by means of vaginal biopsies and smears. A cellular index, and nuclear, acidophilic and glycogen indices were established as an objective basis for the comparison of smears. Keywords
