Abstract
The effectiveness of desoxycorticosterone acetate (DCA) in raising blood pressure varies considerably with different groups of Wistar albino rats. Factors which can influence this are choline deficiency in the diet and the addition of estradiol or antihistamines. Histidine and ascorbic acid, if given early enough, can ameliorate hypertension induced by DCA. However, after hypertension had been established, vitamin E alone proved effective and in this case the amelioration was lost when vitamin E was withdrawn. Keywords
