Abstract
ONE privileged to deliver such a lecture as this is almost inevitably led to look back over the topics selected by his predecessors. The Cutter Lectures on Preventive Medicine have been an extraordinarily diverse lot; yet all that I have consulted have dealt with well-recognized aspects of the field of public health.
