Diabetes Produced by Feeding Alloxan to Cats

Abstract
0.5 to 1 g./kg. of alloxan was given in a single oral dose to 14 cats, 10 of which developed diabetes. 5 cats killed 3 to 8 days later had an avg. blood sugar of 259 mg. %. 5 killed 16 to 64 days later had 245 mg. %. Fixed and stained tissue specimens showed injury to the adrenal cortex, anterior pituitary,, liver, and kidneys.This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
