Abstract
An extract from sheep pituitaries containing both follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormone was studied on radiation-induced testicular atrophy in rats. Adult and immature male rats were given single exposures of 500 r total-body X-irradiation and 800 r of X-irradiation to the testes only, in 3 fractionated doses, respectively. Gonadotropin was injd. twice weekly for the 1st 4-6 weeks or from the 8th_16th week following radiation exposures. The extract increased slightly the degree of testicular atrophy and inhibited testicular regeneration. Keywords
