DYNAMICS OF MICROBIAL PROPAGATION MODELS CONSIDERING ENDOGENOUS METABOLISM

Abstract
The 2 models presented display significantly different characteristics from the models based on the formation of inhibitors, both in batch and continuous cultures. This provides a number of systematic experiments to be performed in batch and continuous cultures to evaluate the relative merits of the assumptions for the explanation of the growth curve; the assumption of endogenous metabolism and that based on growth inhibitors. Differential equations for batch growth, equations for continuous culture and formulae for determining respiratory rate of the microorganisms are given.
