Manual preference and skill development in preschool children

Abstract
Seven hundred sixty‐seven preschool children from 2.6 to 6.0 years of age were administered a Manual Preference test as well as two different hand‐skill tasks (the Peg‐Moving task and a Graphic test). An important age effect on the differentiation of the two hands was observed for Manual Preference and the Graphic test only. Results are discussed according to different task demands. Sex difference and relationship between Manual Preference and Manual Skill tasks are analyzed.
