Abstract
The petrology of the Lower Magnesian Limestone in an area extending from near Darlington to beyond Whitby is described. The paragenesis of the various rock-types is discussed. The relationships between sulphate and carbonate and the origin of talc and sulphur are discussed in detail. The origin of the Lower Magnesian Limestone in the area is also considered. Keywords
