Abstract
The clinical types of adrenogenital virilism are reviewed. Four such cases, due to congenital adrenal hyperplasia, are described in detail. The biochemical findings and treatment are outlined. The enzyme deficiencies in the biosynthesis of hydrocortisone, now recognized as the cause of the condition, are considered, and the resultant patterns of urinary steroid metabolites are indicated. The report includes an example, believed to be the first described in this country, of congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to a deficiency of 3-[beta]-hydroxysteroid dehydro-genase.Keywords
