Death education has become a valuable component of many gerontology programs. This paper examines various issues and concerns of importance to death educators and program administrators. The potential benefits of examining the issues surrounding death and dying, the readiness of people to explore this subject, ethical concerns for death educators, and the status of outcome research evaluating the effects and effectiveness of death education programs are considered. Keywords
