Abstract
Actidlone (cycloheximlde) in concentrations of 1 to 5 [mu]g per ml inhibited fermentation by a commercial baker''s yeast and by Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This seemed to be a surface action since actidione did not Inhibit fermentation by cell-free extracts. The inhibitory effect on intact cells was potentiated by copper ions in concentrations varying between 0.5 and 2 times the molar equivalent of actldione. Keywords
