Abstract
This group of perinatal infections poses many problems: incidence can be only crudely estimated; definitive diagnosis requires special laboratory tests, most of which are not easily available; symptomatology is usually minimal and often nonspecific; prognosis is grave. Although the past decade has seen advances in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, recognition of the extent of the problem remains an urgent need for its eventual solution. Keywords
