Abstract
Soluble antigens of Haemophilus influenzae type b, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitidis and group B Streptococcus were looked for in [human] CSF, serum and urine by using the staphylococcal coagglutination test [SCT], latex agglutination test [LAT] and counterimmunoelectrophoresis [CIE]. The SCT and LAT were more sensitive than CIE in identifying antigens [Ag] of H. influenzae type b, S. pneumoniae and N. meningitidis. None of the 3 tests successfully detected group B streptococcal Ag in body fluids. Nonspecific reactions noted with the SCT could be usually eliminated after pre-mixing test specimens with soluble protein A.This publication has 20 references indexed in Scilit:
