SOME FACTORS AFFECTING AUGMENTATION OF PITUITARY GONADOTROPIC EXTRACTS BY HEME

Abstract
The addition of hemin to pituitary gonadotrophic extracts produced augmentation of ovarian wt. and a decline in % of ovarian solids. The ability of 3 factors: age of test animal, dosage of pituitary extract and number of injs. to cause variation in these effects of hemin was studied in an expt. involving 160 immature rats. Variation in augmentation of ovarian wt. was caused by: pituitary dosage, number of injs., pituitary dosage interacting with number of injs., and pituitary dosage interacting with age of rat. Variation in decline of % of ovarian solids was. caused by: pituitary dosage, number of injs., age of rat, age of rat interacting with pituitary dosage and age of rat interacting with number of injs.
