Abstract
Unitarity of the matrix is used to bound the sum of the pole term and the left-hand contribution appearing in a dispersion relation for a partial-wave scattering amplitude. An upper bound for the coupling constant is then constructed for the case of an arbitrary distribution of any finite number of sign changes in the left-hand cut discontinuity.
