Abstract
The effect of dopamine on the release of insulin and glucagon was investigated in 8 adult subjects. Dopamine infused i.v. at a rate of 4 .mu.g/kg per min .times. 2 h, unaccompanied by cardiovascular changes, induced a prompt and significant increase in plasma insulin and glucagon and in plasma glucose levels. Dopamine may stimulate .alpha. and .beta. cells. Keywords
