Functioning Metastasis of Thyroid Carcinoma in the Sella Turcica

Abstract
A patient with thyroid carcinoma treated by thyroidectomy developed a destructive metastasis in the sella turcica 6 yr later. Demonstrable roentgenographically and by radioisotope scanning, the metastasis had produced cranial nerve dysfunction without obvious clinical evidence of panhypopituitarism. Although temporary improvement followed treatment with external roentgen therapy, ablation of the metastasis occurred only after the administration of 100 me of 131I.
