Abstract
Various dietary factors are discussed in relation to milk fat depression in dairy cattle. Items covered include rumen levels of acetate and propionate, antiketogenesis and endocrinological factors. A discussion of the effects of unsaturated compounds on rumen metabolism and a summary of the factors known to affect the rumen-acetate-propionate ratio, milk fat percent and feed efficiency for fattening are presented with 182 references. This publication has 117 references indexed in Scilit:
