Abstract
The authors report the first measurement of angular distributions in multiphoton detachment from a negative ion. The experiments are performed on an ion beam of Br- with a pulsed laser at the wavelengths 1064 and 532 nm. The angular distributions obtained show qualitative agreement with calculations. A quantitative analysis gives evidence for slight deviations, which could lead to sensitive tests of the approximations usually introduced in calculations of multiphoton detachment or ionization. Keywords
