Abstract
Various optical and electrical properties of Na‐ and Li‐diffused samples of CdS have been studied. Samples were prepared under maximum sulfur pressure, both with and without simultaneous donor doping. In the absence of donors, p‐type material cannot be obtained, and the specific properties of the alkalis cannot be unraveled. In samples prepared with intentionally added donors, Na and Li are ``good'' acceptors, with a binding energy consistent with previous determinations (∼0.17 eV). Under certain conditions, Li has been shown to act primarily as a donor. The various compensation mechanisms are discussed. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
