Abstract
Energy levels in the spectra of Rb ιv and Sr v, belonging to the 4s24p4 and 4s 4p5 configurations, are reported for the first time. The transitions, which appear in the 500–1000-Å range, were photographed with a 3-m normal-incidence spectrograph. A sliding spark in vacuum was used as light source. The radial integrals determined from least-squares adjustments to the configurations (and to the corresponding configurations in Kr III) are compared to Hartree–Fock results. A strong 4s 4p5 ↔ 4s24p34d interaction, which distorts the 4s 4p5 configuration, is reported. Keywords
