Abstract
The simple theory of Ratti and Ziman (1974) for estimating the transfer of charge between atoms in metallic alloys has been modified and applied to a number of ordered and disordered binary alloys of various crystal structures. The results indicate very small charge transfers in most cases, i.e. most screening taking place by a readjustment of the charge density within an atom's own Wigner-Seitz cell. Keywords
