Abstract
A unique solution to the screening problem in an alloy can be constructed by solving Thomas-Fermi equations throughout the interstitial region, subject to field continuity conditions on the boundaries of spheres containing the atomic cores. A simple mathematical approximation to the general solution involves only the one dimensional TF equation, with end conditions corresponding to selfconsistent charge transfers between the Wigner-Seitz spheres occupied by different components. Preliminary calculations for typical binary alloys show that the method is simple to apply and can give physically significant results. Keywords
