Abstract
Results of calculations of self-consistent potentials without exchange are given for Mg, Al and Zn impurities dissolved in Cu, Al and Mg metals. The contributions of the perturbing potentials around these impurities to changes in lattice parameter and compressibility are evaluated, and the results shown to be in fair agreement with the experiment. Finally, an estimate of the binding energy of beta -brass is obtained from the charge distribution around a Zn impurity in Cu.Keywords
