The Electrophoretic Distribution of Proteins in Plasma in Rheumatoid Arthritis12

Abstract
The electrophoretic distr. of proteins in 88 plasmas from 32 patients with rheumatoid arthritis was detd. An elevation of the concns. of alpha1-, alpha2- and gamma-globulins and of fibrinogen and a lowering of the albumin were observed in active rheumatoid arthritis. A tendency is apparent for the alpha-globulins to rise early in the disease followed by an elevation of the gamma-globulins. Reversal to a normal electrophoretic pattern may occur during remission of the activity of arthritis.
