Abstract
Measurements of the H–H, H–Si, H–F and Si–F coupling constants for the halogen‐substituted monosilanes, disiloxane, disilyl sulfide and trisilylamine are described. The failure of the simple valence‐bond calculation to interpret the H–H coupling constants as a function of the H–Si–H angle is attributed to the d orbitals of silicon. A comparison of the H–H and H–Si coupling constants is also presented. Keywords
