Abstract
The annual Medicagos from Turkey, Medicago globosa Presl., M. noeana Boiss. and M. shepardi Post have chromosome complements of 2n = 14, 16, and 16, respectively. The appear to be of value as fodder plants for sheep and goats on the native rocky range pastures. The perennial M. papillosa Boiss. has 2n = 16; it appears to be closely related to M. dzhawakhetica Bordz. It may have some importance as a germ plasm donor to cultivated alfalfa.
