Abstract
A thin film waveguide consisting of newly-developed polymer p-NAn-PVA was fabricated and characterized. The thin film was formed by spin-coating and poled by applying an electric field. The electro-optic (EO) coefficient r 33 was measured to be 14 pm/V, which is as large as half of the r 33 of LiNbO3. As an application of this waveguide, a waveguide EO grating switch was proposed and demonstrated. The switching operation was confirmed preliminarily. Keywords
