Abstract
The change in transition frequency of the transition of the ground state of as a result of the application of an external electric field has been calculated theoretically. The effects of differences in the ground-state wave functions due to the hyperfine interaction have been included, as well as differences in energy denominators due to hyperfine structure. The calculation gives cps, which is to be compared with the experimental value of cps, where is in V/cm.
