Abstract
Strict anaerobes were nor found in the slime, but were always encountered in the intestines. They- belonged exclusively to the Clostridium group, and included Cl. bifermentans, Cl. sporogenes, Cl. putrificum or Cl. lentroputrescens, Cl. tetanomorphum and Cl. tetani (recorded for first time in. fish intestines). Under normal commercial conditions it is considered that the anaerobes play a secondary role in the spoilage of fish.
